About this Coffee
Nestled in Nyeri County's beautiful coffee-growing region is Gathugu Factory. The name "Nyeri" comes from the Masaai word "nyiro," meaning "red," a tribute to the area's rich, red volcanic soil. Named after its village, Gathugu Factory receives daily deliveries of handpicked, ripe cherries from local smallholder farmers. Meticulous sorting ensures only the finest cherries enter the processing stage.
To maintain quality, the parchment is carefully dried and shielded from the sun during peak heat and covered at night to protect against moisture. This attention to detail ensures exceptional quality coffee. Roasted for filter, Gathugu showcases the vibrant flavours of black currant and raspberry, complemented with a smooth body and delicious cocoa finish.

Tasting Notes
The Golden Ratio
We recommend a ratio of 60g of freshly ground coffee for every litre of water. This is a good place to start, but you can fine-tune your recipe to suit your taste. You'll find some suggested brewing ratios of hot water to ground coffee for you to use below.
