ABOUT
For more than three decades, we’ve focused on sourcing, roasting and serving coffee with care.
Coffee Supreme started with Reds Cafe in Wellington. At the time, specialty coffee was still finding its footing in New Zealand. We were curious about flavour, consistency and how far coffee could go when quality became the standard.
That curiosity shaped the business. We began roasting to control quality and to better understand the coffees we were serving. From there, we grew steadily, driven by a belief that coffee should be reliable, expressive and enjoyable every day.
We were part of the early wave of specialty coffee in New Zealand and Australia, helping shape a cafe culture where quality became the standard, not the exception. So we began travelling. We built long-term relationships at origin. We paid premiums for quality and consistency. We learned, improved and refined. We still do.
Each season, we source green coffee through trusted partnerships and roast it with respect for its character. Our approach is disciplined and deliberate. Consistency matters. Systems matter. Relationships matter.
Today, Coffee Supreme works with cafe partners, hospitality groups and retail customers across New Zealand, Australia and Japan, delivering specialty coffee built on long-term relationships and consistent quality. In Japan, there is a word for it: Kaizen. Continuous improvement. Raise the bar, then raise it again.
We believe quality and hospitality go hand in hand. We are as focused on supporting our cafe partners as we are on flavour in the cup. Our reputation has been built on reliability, long-term relationships and showing up properly.
We have been roasting since 1993. We are proud of that. But longevity only matters if you keep earning it. Our purpose is to enhance people’s lives by cultivating connection, creativity and collaboration through coffee. We’ve been working towards that for more than three decades. And we’ll keep showing up to do it, every day.
Put the kettle on.

Sourcing
We take care to buy the good stuff. It costs more. It takes longer. It requires planning, travel and trust. But it’s worth it.
Great coffee starts with great green coffee. The flavour in your cup is directly linked to the quality of the coffee we source. That’s why coffee sourcing has always been the foundation of what we do as a specialty coffee roaster.
We don’t buy from a warehouse across town. Securing the coffees we love involves months of communication, logistics and coordination to bring exceptional green coffee from origin to our roasteries in New Zealand, Australia and Japan.
Coffee Supreme sources coffee through long-term producer relationships, trusted exporters and direct trade partnerships built on consistency and transparency.
Sustainability in sourcing coffee is formed through building long term relationships with the people we know and trust, where each can rely on the other.

THE MIERISCH FAMILY
Origin: Nicaragua
Relationship: 12+ years
Volume: 4 containers per year
A solid example of this, is the Mierisch family. We've been purchasing coffee from Fincas Mierisch for 10 years, with annual visits marked on our calendars. The farm's been around for years and produces some of the world's best coffee. Well, we think so anyway.

Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza
Origin: Brazil
Relationship: 10+ years
Volume: 6 containers per year
We are now into our tenth year with this partnership with FAF and the bobolink project and our commitment to this partnership stems from these shared goals of environmental stewardship and holistic treatment of workers and partners alike.

Azahar
Origin: Colombia
Relationship: 7+ years
Volume: 6 containers per year
Our Colombian coffee is sourced through Azahar in Colombia. Azahar works with small producers across Colombia and strives to pay farmers better prices. Supreme are involved in a couple of projects including the pickers project and their pilot program that aims to move farmers off the poverty line.

Roasting
While the roasting process might seem like a lot of heat and big bits of spinning steel, it’s actually a very delicate and precise operation that takes dedication and skill to do well. We see it as our duty to ensure that the hard work already invested in the coffee is preserved and celebrated in every cup - every coffee has a story and we strive to tell that story on behalf of its maker.
This is the pointy end of coffee and it’s a delicious place to find yourself. The world of specialty coffee opens the door to more complex flavour profiles, stories and knowledge, if that’s your thing. Coffee, just like good ingredients at a restaurant, is truly seasonal and seasonality brings variety. As well as perfecting our regular coffees, our coffee menu looks to celebrate this seasonality and diversity. After all, coffee is a fruit, and fruit tastes best when it’s fresh.

Our Community
We often say great things happen over a cup of coffee, and we love it’s ability to pull people together for a common cause. Our engagement in our community is focused on helping to foster personal connections over better cups of coffee. This is where new friendships are formed and we get to experience genuine and meaningful human connection.
From chucking on our own events or supporting others throwing their own, to assisting community organisations and charities, we hope to bring people together in meaningful ways that make for more supportive and prosperous neighbourhoods.
Mental Health Foundation
Coffee brings people together, that’s one of our favourite things about it — it’s social. The simple act of asking someone to catch up and kōrero over a coffee could be all it takes to help them. That’s why we’re thrilled to partner with the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand and support their ongoing work for mental health.

The City Mission
We’re proud to help support the efforts of the Wellington City Mission who seek to achieve fullness of life for those who are at risk or struggling in the Greater Wellington region. Our support is focussed on both the Social Supermarket and their Tā Te Manawa (community lounge).

Common Unity Project
Common Unity is a registered charity that works collaboratively with community, schools and organisations across Lower Hutt with the Mission is to ensure every child has a village. We’re proud to support their ReMakery Kitchen that’s dedicated to ensuring our community is fed through the restoration of our local food system.

Our Environment
We understand that although coffee grows on trees, enduring environmental sustainability doesn’t. We understand that our environment is precious, and we need to take care of it. We know that coffee has an environmental footprint, and proactively reducing it is our goal.
We’re now measuring our impact on the environment: we’ve published a comprehensive sustainability report and have now partnered with Ekos, an environmentally focussed social enterprise, to find solutions to most effectively reduce our carbon footprint.
Thank you for being part of our journey and supporting our efforts to lessen our environmental impact. This is a journey about always getting better, not waiting to be perfect; it’s about taking steps in the right direction and continual improvement.
