Meet Cassy, who heads up Christchurch's favourite cafe, Supreme Supreme (we're a little biased). We recently caught up with her on a break from the daily grind to chat about work, and also not work.

Whilst fairly new in her role as Cafe Manager, Cassy is making some serious waves and has hit the ground running from day dot. Whether she’s slinging coffee, planning events, or whipping up Ōtautahi’s most-loved scones, Cassy’s all in, and it shows.

Q: Hey Cassy, can you walk us through a typical day in your role at Coffee Supreme?
A: I usually start my day at SupSup by putting on some tunes and diving into prep, starting with our Ōtautahi-famous scones. Once those are sorted, I finish off the rest of the cabinet, then catch up on emails and take five with a coffee to check in with the team before the day kicks off.

We roll as a collective at Sup, so we’re always sharing the load, jumping between the coffee machine and kitchen to keep things fresh. Lately, I’ve been deep in planning for our upcoming Supreme Sessions events, which we’re all excited about. Most days, you’ll find me chatting with customers, making some yum coffees, and, most importantly, making sure we’re having a good time while doing it.

Q: What are you drinking at the moment?
A: If I’m not sipping on a flattie or a lil’ blizzie (our team’s nickname for a long black), I’m probably drinking a Big Joe. It’s a super easy drinker with great all-round flavour — hard to go wrong.

Q: Describe your ideal coffee ritual — how do you like to enjoy your cup of coffee?
A: At the moment, I’m loving our new morning ritual at work. We’ve been taking a moment in the mornings to share something we’re grateful for over a cuppa. It’s simple, but it feels grounding and wholesome.

Q: Where is your favourite spot to have a coffee in Christchurch?
A: Favourite spot? It's gotta be SupSup. Christchurch has some awesome places, but nothing beats your own space when the vibe’s just right.

Q: What are you doing / where are you hanging out when you're not at work?
A: I’m a bit of a mixed bag — I love a cosy night in with my cat, but you’ll also find me out at gigs or down at the pub with friends.

Q: And lastly, who are you currently playing on repeat?
A: Right now, I’m playing a lot of techno and showing some big love to anything by Mabel.

Thanks for the chat, Cassy. We raise our mug to you for holding down the fort. We can't wait to see what is next for Supreme Supreme.
